big tree blown horizontal — Blowing down a big tree, the force required to break the grip of a root plate is immense. A tall tree’s stem is a huge lever with branches that offer commodious sail area. Come a powerful wind, the tree is laid down. In time, we all fall down.

two dogs in the back seat of a Prius — Tilly is all about walking it down slow, saving energy, not breaking a sweat, securing the chow. Eva is Thunderpaws, ten strides to every step Matilda takes. Eva runs the high road, the low road and encircles the enemy, simultaneously. The dogs have opposite approaches but remain best friends.

GEC Lewes — People rarely come back to share the details of heaven so I imagine my own. Family and all the old dogs.

Eva in the oaks — Walking to the ocean, birdsong, psithurism, dappled light, pathways, conversation, quiet, waves. All of that.

Rivanna

Rivanna River heron — The Rivanna River is a premier resource for Central Virginia.

People in Charlottesville are making use of the Rivanna. The Charlottesville political leadership continues to ignore the river. I hope the City Council will engage, in a helpful manner, soon.

Some “studying” has been done but significant steps have not been taken.
