Gardener
I own a solace shut within my heart,
A garden full of many a quaint delight
And warm with drowsy, poppied sunshine; bright,
Flaming with lilies out of whose cups dart
Shining things
With powdered wings.–Amy Lowell Behind a Wall 1912

I stumbled off the track to success in 1968, started chasing shadows that summer. Since then, In addition to farm-laborer and newspaper photographer my occupational incarnations include dishwasher, janitor, retail photo clerk, plumber, HVAC repairman, auto mechanic, CAT scan technologist, computer worker and politico (whatever it takes to buy a camera.) I am on the road to understanding black and white photography.

what beautiful Easter light shining on a beautiful child of God.
I went with her to several medical appointments. She’d express a genuine interest in the well being of others, the check-in people, the practitioners. Amazing grace. She was in love with the living. I never heard her express a trace of bitterness.
