closed cycle cooling system

The Brayton Point Station power plant, located on the shores of Mount Hope Bay, is the largest fossil-fuel burning power plant in New England.

I stumbled off the track to success in 1968, started chasing shadows that summer. Since then, In addition to farm-laborer and newspaper photographer my occupational incarnations include dishwasher, janitor, retail photo clerk, plumber, HVAC repairman, auto mechanic, CAT scan technologist, computer worker and politico (whatever it takes to buy a camera.) I am on the road to understanding black and white photography.

  1. What a commentary.
I’ve seen the towers from route 195 but not in the neighbor context.

Great to see you. Give my love to everyone.

  2. I wonder if the power ever goes out in this neighborhood? Good example of urban landscape showing the folly of past urban planning.

  3. This is an amazing picture. I am from Somerset, and I grew up in this neighborhood–about a mile down the road from this street. We didn’t have the cooling towers when I was kid, but we learned to sleep with all the alarms going off there.

  4. Hello and good day. You take wonderful photos. My name is Christa and I work at a non-profit organization that works on energy issues. I am writing to see if I may use some of your photos of Brayton Point for a report we are publishing. I could not find contact information on this blog. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if I may use the photos and let me know if there is a particular photo credit to use.

Thanks for sharing your gift and art.

    Warmest regards,
    Christa
