There are two tales about these Louisa County trees. One is that birds used to sit on the power lines that once lined the left side of the road and unwittingly planted the trees as part of their digestive cycle, and the spacing is by natural selection. The other is that they were planted by Henry Taylor, and he spaced them as he damn well pleased. I’m not sure which is true, but I can find out.
