I stumbled off the track to success in 1968, started chasing shadows that summer. Since then, In addition to farm-laborer and newspaper photographer my occupational incarnations include dishwasher, janitor, retail photo clerk, plumber, HVAC repairman, auto mechanic, CAT scan technologist, computer worker and politico (whatever it takes to buy a camera.) I am on the road to understanding black and white photography.
1307 East Market. The City’s website gives the date of this building’s construction as 1920.It has been there for many years.Once upon a time it was open for breakfast. For the past 15 years Jinx Kern opened it for lunch. It was a storied place, a repository of 20th Century cultural ephemera and excellent barbeque. The building was knocked down in May. brief visit in Slabtown by ecoman… Heartened to hear that Virginia republicans do not support the President’s proposed cuts to the Chesapeake Bay project.
Total immersion. The water dog voluntarily lept into the Rivanna River a few days ago. Yay!(If you are a human that wants to learn to swim visit Terry Laughlin’s excellent site)
rough and noisy; noisily jolly or rowdy; clamorous; unrestrained: Carl, Helen and Ermine visited last night. Tilly had nine brothers, no sisters. They taught her ferocious display? Tilly shows off for visitors. (two seconds later Tilly was flat on her back)
An electromyogram (EMG) measures the electrical activity of muscles when they’re at rest and when they’re being used. Nerve conduction studies measure how well and how fast the nerves can send electrical signals.Once upon a time I worked in health care. Tests like these are hard for those who administer them. People get into health care to make people feel better. So studies that are unpleasant for the patient are not much fun to administer. In this case the test involves (from the patient’s point of view) electrodes and needles. The docs were kind, efficient, didn’t hurt for long. The idea of it hurt.
