It was a very fast growing tree. The largest <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_chestnut\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">American chestnut<\/a> tree ever recorded before felling was 54 feet in circumference (approximately 17 feet in diameter).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cYou teach me, I forget.
