My neighbor Mary (pseudonym) has lived at 1609 Woolen Mills Road (aka Three Notch’d, aka East Market Street) all her life. She and her brother Randolph grew up here.

Mary’s family bought the house April 16, 1906. The house sits on the western side of Woolen Mills lot #14, part of  the Nicholas Meriwether/Nicholas Lewis property known as the Farm, patented to Meriwether in 1735. A hundred years ago this location was quiet.

This house is opposite the point where Franklin Street intersects Woolen Mills Road.
