Traveling, destination undisclosed.
Lee statue
in situ, earlier this summer

I stumbled off the track to success in 1968, started chasing shadows that summer. Since then, In addition to farm-laborer and newspaper photographer my occupational incarnations include dishwasher, janitor, retail photo clerk, plumber, HVAC repairman, auto mechanic, CAT scan technologist, computer worker and politico (whatever it takes to buy a camera.) I am on the road to understanding black and white photography.

  1. I love your picture. My father went to the statue unveiling as a small boy. He walked down to the park with his family. My grandmother described the day in her diary. As a Charlottesville native, daughter of a Charlottesville native … I can say it is time for the statues to go. I am incredibly proud of the men and women who risk their lives and limbs (and sanity) to serve in the military. Those of us who are the generations removed from slavery, Jim Crow, segregation must find a way to move society forward in a MEANINGFUL way. The statue removal is a great start, not an ending.
