Cyclists participate in the “Ride of Silence”. A slow quiet ride through the streets of Charlottesville and 323 other cities, a rolling meditation, remembering bikers killed in crashes with motor vehicles.
May 14 the City of Charlottesville was granted silver status as a bicycle friendly community.
I stumbled off the track to success in 1968, started chasing shadows that summer. Since then, In addition to farm-laborer and newspaper photographer my occupational incarnations include dishwasher, janitor, retail photo clerk, plumber, HVAC repairman, auto mechanic, CAT scan technologist, computer worker and politico (whatever it takes to buy a camera.) I am on the road to understanding black and white photography.

That is a beautiful image, both literally and figuratively…..a quiet ride through quiet streets. There ought to be one day of silence every week of the year. Ahhhhh…….sounds so peaceful.
