McKim, Mead, and White

rhode island capitol building
View from Prospect Terrace Park looking west to the Rhode Island Statehouse. Not where the health care frolicsomeness was occurring, but a monumental building all the same, designed by McKim, Mead and White.
Providence is a beautiful town.

I stumbled off the track to success in 1968, started chasing shadows that summer. Since then, In addition to farm-laborer and newspaper photographer my occupational incarnations include dishwasher, janitor, retail photo clerk, plumber, HVAC repairman, auto mechanic, CAT scan technologist, computer worker and politico (whatever it takes to buy a camera.) I am on the road to understanding black and white photography.

  1. Bill, I gotta say, even though it’s out of place: that last shot on the old blog was a masterful punctuation, not just a wizard shot in itself but oh so well placed.

And sorry for the long silence. I drop in more or less daily, but find what you have to say or show enough in itself. What could I add?

  2. Michael- good to hear from you. It’s like the force (Star Wars version) still feels like you are in the UK looking over things stateside, but great to have verbal confirmation. Hope to get over your way someday. Do you all have a guestroom? Another organizational task for db, the great photographer/organizer. Guestrooms for photographers, so we can travel more!

  3. definitely have a guest room. For very special guests. Not to mention Durham Cathedral, Hadrian’s Wall, and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. And electricity!
